A compact single-switch, dual-string, non-isolated constant-current LED driver is proposed to address the tradeoff between power quality, current regulation, and lifetime in integrated single-stage drivers, where electrolytic dc-link buffering and increased component count often limit reliability and cost. The topology integrates boost power factor correction and buck current regulation in one switching stage, provides automatic per-string current sharing, and eliminates electrolytic bulk capacitance by transferring energy buffering to the output using non-electrolytic capacitors. A small-signal averaged model is derived to design cascaded inner–outer proportional–integral control loops for input-current shaping and dual-string current regulation. A 110 W prototype (two strings, 39 V/1.42 A per string) operating from 180–265 VAC at 20 kHz achieves 94% peak efficiency, power factor ≈ 0.97, input-current THD ≈ 5%, and 13% LED current ripple with negligible perceptible flicker. The results confirm robust regulation under mains and load variations, demonstrating suitability for compact, long-life street-lighting drivers.
